It replaced the Metal Gear Solid artwork, which was also an advertisement.

That popped up in Aire Street around 2013 at the time of the release of videogame Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance.

But the new artwork has divided opinion on popular Leeds Facebook group leedsplace.

One man said: "You have to be joking. I have a number of photos of the original. Even have it as part of my main photo on Facebook. It's like replacing a Picasso with a Joe blog's picture."

Another said: "It is a crying shame, I've never played metal gear solid but I've always loved this piece of artwork."

Some defended the new advert.

One commenter said: "This is a music artist called Knucks who has been featured for the latest Gucci campaign, I say congrats to him.

"And if your complaining about the old artwork gone missing, why don’t you try sponsor the cost of that advertising space."

While others simply pointed out that both are adverts.

"I love both, nothing wrong with either of them. They are both adverts," said one.

Most people can't get enough of artwork across the city, except for one commenter, who said: "What wrong with just plain brick, with no “art”? Would much rather see buildings looking how they were built without advertisements, art or graffiti on."
