Days Out: Climbing in Yorkshire
If you want to start big, head to ROKT in West Yorkshire – an Olympic standard climbing centre.
Built on the site of an old flour mill, its giant grain towers have been converted into action-packed climbing walls measuring 4,100 metre-squared.

ROKT’s outdoor wall offers 21 unique routes and stunning 20-mile views – which enhances the awesome experience. And the super-friendly staff are on hand to help at every stage – whether it’s pushing through your personal plateau or organising competitions amongst friends and family, ROKT is the perfect first step in your climbing career.
Total newcomers to the sport can take a taster course that will get you a first shot at an ascent and fill you in on the basics, while veterans can get a refresher in climbing and find climbs that suit their abilities.
The centre also has a new indoor Nerf arena so if your little ones have a Nerf gun, it’s the perfect spot for them to practice dodging over, under and around obstacles as they take down opponents.
