Mosques extend warm welcome
AS Donald Trump was doing his best to close America's doors, mosques in Leeds were opening theirs as part of a national initiative to reach out and give people a greater understanding of Islam.
Iqra Centre, in Moortown and the city’s biggest mosque, Leeds Grand Mosque, in Hyde Park, were among around 150 across the country, to welcome members of the local community to meet their diverse Muslim congregations.
The annual event is part of efforts to break through stereotypes about Islam and its constant association with a minority radical element.
As well as guided tours and a Calligraphic workshop, there was music from around the Muslim world, a chance to ask questions and to observe prayer in the mosque.
