Lockwood treading the boards in Don Fox '˜Watersplash' role
Former Great Britain forward Brian Lockwood – whose clubs included Wakefield and Castleford Tigers – stars in They Walked On Water, inspired by David Hinchliffe’s book of the same name about the 1968 ‘Watersplash’ Challenge Cup final between Wakefield and Leeds.
Lockwood plays Lance Todd Trophy winner Don Fox, whose missed conversion attempt with the final kick of the game is arguably the most famous moment in the sport’s long history.

“In 1968 this was simply a sports story, but David Hinchliffe’s book explored how it grew to become a legend.
“What I like about the play is that it is about the people that make up rugby league – the players the fans and the officials.
“It has been great to see audiences of all all ages and interests finding it funny and thought-provoking.”
