The winter window was always anticipated to be a quiet one for the Whites and that’s exactly how it’s turned out so far with no new signing through the door.
Indeed, the only movement has been the loan exits of Jordan Stevens, Ryan Edmondson and Robbie Gotts, who joined Bradford City, Northampton Town and Salford City, respectively.
Speculation surrounding Wigan Athletic starlet Sean McGurk hit the headlines late last week after the League One club’s administrators admitted they had rejected an offer from an unnamed Premier League club.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the current season, the Whites are unlikely to make a substantial bid before the window closes.
However, The Sun believes Leeds could revisit a move for McGurk in order to avoid a tribunal. Wigan would be entitled to compensation, despite him becoming a free agent.
Meanwhile, reported Leeds target Erick Pulgar will only be allowed to leave Fiorentina if a replacement is found first.
Corriere Fiorentino has reported the Whites’ apparent interest for most of the month, though it seems very unlikely he’ll be moving to Elland Road.
Here’s a round-up of some of the other transfer rumours involving Leeds and their Premier League rivals this morning:
1. Hughton plays down Murray reunion
Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton has played down reports linking him with a reunion with Glenn Murray. He said: “I would imagine it’s very much to do with my connection with him and certainly at the moment, this is just speculation.” (NottinghamshireLive) Photo: Mike Hewitt
2. Collins interesting Burnley & Arsenal
Burnley are rivalling Arsenal for £10million-rated Stoke City defender Nathan Collins. The Clarets view him as a replacement for James Tarkowski, but could make their move before the 28-year-old is sold. (The Sun) Photo: Pool
3. Kenny price tag put off Clarets
Everton have set Jonjoe Kenny’s price tag at £10million, a figure which is preventing Burnley from making a move for the right-back. It is believed the fee would eat up too much of the Clarets’ budget. (Daily Mirror via TBR) Photo: Alex Livesey
4. Worrall 'long-term' Clarets target
Burnley remain keen on Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall but may wait until the summer to make their move. The club’s new owners see Worrall as a long-term target, though are aware January is not an ideal time to invest as prices are inflated. (Daily Mirror) Photo: Laurence Griffiths
5. Lingard loan exit 'sanctioned'
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sanctioned a loan exit for Jesse Lingard, with the final decision now up to the Old Trafford board. Lingard is keen to stay in England with Sheffield United, Newcastle, Spurs, West Ham and West Brom all interested. (ESPN) Photo: Richard Heathcote
6. Newcastle target Howe
Newcastle United want to appoint former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, if they decide to sack Steve Bruce. Mike Ashley is reluctant but knows he will be forced to sack the 60-year-old, if the team’s winless run continues. (The Sun) Photo: Pool
