In fact Yorkshire boasts more than 30 athletes in Team GB’s Paralympic squad, who are hoping to emulate the stunning success of the nation’s golden Olympic games.
Powerlifters, basketball players, sprinters, rugby players and others are in Rio for the games and they have all gone there with all our best wishes.
For them, it is a dream come true to perform on the biggest of stages and in front of huge television audiences.

Hide AdRio de Janeiro faces a massive task to put on a Paralympics to match the stunning event in London four years ago. In true sporting spirit, we know they will agree that in this case it really is the taking part that counts.
But like all Britons we will still be so proud when they start racking up the medals.
