Is Leeds Bradford Airport in the hotel quarantine scheme? What red list flights mean for Leeds

The Government has also specified an exclusive list of airports you must fly into in order to quarantine - and Leeds Bradford Airport isn’t on the list. This means if you are travelling from or through a country on the “red list” in the 10 days before coming to England, you cannot fly into Leeds Bradford. If you have a pre-existing booking that flies into Leeds Bradford on or after the 15 Feb, this has to be changed, and it’s your responsibility to change it. As it stands, the airports currently on the list are Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Birmingham and Farnborough, plus military bases. The Government say this list may change but as Leeds Bradford doesn’t appear on the current list, you may face a fine of up to £10,000 if you still attempt to fly there. For people coming from other countries not on the “red list”, Leeds Bradford can still be used but flyers should follow other guidance. If you are coming from a “red list” country and are going to need to quarantine, here’s what you need to know: Hotel quarantine: what it is Hotel quarantine lasts for 10 days after coming into England, with the day of arrival being treated as day zero. According to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), the Government has done deals with 15 hotels so far, which means there are 4,963 rooms available and an extra 58,000 are on stand-by. Hotel quarantining is included in your quarantine package along with transport to and from the hotel and two COVID-19 tests to be taken on day 2 and day 8 of your quarantine. These packages must be bought before travelling to England and cost £1750 for one adult in one room for 10 days (11 nights), then an additional rate of £650 for one more adult. Quarantine for a child between the ages of 5 and 12 costs £325, but any child under the age of 5 can quarantine for free. Quarantining in a managed quarantine hotel During your 10 days of quarantine, meals will be provided. Whilst you’re unable to select a particular room, the guidance says connecting rooms will be prioritised for families. Parents of unaccompanied children arriving in England can join their child in quarantine, but visitors are not allowed unless there is an emergency. There are only a few circumstances in which you’re allowed to leave your quarantine room, and these include for medical reasons and attending a funeral of a family member or loved one. You may also be given special permission to exercise, but the guidance says that this is not guaranteed. Is it the same for the whole of the UK? These new rules only apply for England, but elsewhere in the UK do have different. In Scotland, all arrivals from abroad by air have to quarantine for 10 days in hotels, not just those coming from countries on the “red list”. In Wales and Northern Ireland, travellers must pay to quarantine in England as neither country has any direct international flights.
