Photo essary: Glorious crocuses at Leeds Kirkstall Abbey are first sign of spring
The Abbey, which dates back to 1152, is a popular destination for local families who wish to soak up its history and the lovely surroundings.
It was built by monks who chose the site for its ‘timber and stone and a pleasant valley with the water of a river which flowed down its centre.’

There are expected to be a few opportunities this weekend to venture out to see the first signs of spring. Sunny spells were forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow is set to have a dry start before rain and strong winds arrive later in the day.
