Police say he had been chased by two men following an altercation shortly before, near to the Old Red Lion pub in York Road.
They have issued a fresh appeal to find Winstantley, but say they have located a second man who was the subject of a previous police appeal.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has seen him or who has any information that could assist in finding him.
“I would remind people that anyone who may be helping him to avoid arrest will be liable to arrest themselves for assisting an offender.
“This was a very violent attack involving a knife and the injuries caused could easily have had more serious consequences, so it’s vital we progress the investigation and trace those involved as quickly as possible.”
