Man caught trying to hide machete in bushes after police called to report of robbery near Leeds city centre

Benjamin Forrest-Daniels was sent to prison for six months after pleading guilty to possessing a bladed article over the incident on October 22 this year.
Leeds Crown Court heard police were called to reports of a robbery involving the use of weapons on Kendal Close, Woodhouse, at 9pm.

Hide AdOfficers arrived at the scene and saw two suspects running towards Park Lane.
The pair managed to get away but an officer saw Forrest-Daniels a short time later near in a car park on the old Leeds International Pool site.
The defendant was carrying a bag and wearing clothing similar to one of the men seen earlier by officers.
Forrest-Daniels, of Kelcliffe Avenue, Guiseley, was asked to stop by an officer but ran off.

Hide AdThe bag was recovered and was found to contain a machete with a 12-inch blade.
At the time of the incident Forrest-Daniels was out of prison on licence for a drug dealing offence.
He has previous convictions for robbery and possessing a bladed article.
Soheil Khan, mitigating, said Forrest-Daniels accepted he would be facing a further custodial sentence due to his previous convictions.

Hide AdThe barrister said the 24-year-old defendant came from a loving and supportive family and planned to distance himself from people he has committed offences with when released from prison.
Mr Khan said: "He accepts his own foolishness for falling back in to criminal offending."
Sentencing, Judge Mushtaq Khokhar said: "I cannot see any legitimate purpose for you having the item on your person.
"The fact that you have a previous convictions aggravates the offence."
