Hyde Park robberies: Four teenagers arrested for spate of street robberies in Leeds student areas

More than 20 robberies, attempted robberies and thefts occurred in Hyde Park, Burley and Woodhouse over the weekend.
The Leeds District Crime Team launched an investigation into the attacks, the majority of which were carried out on Friday and Saturday.

Hide AdFour teenage boys, two aged 14, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old, were arrested this morning.
They remain in custody.
Police found stolen items while carrying out property searches as part of the investigation.
Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have increased patrols in Hyde Park, Burley and Woodhouse to reassure residents, in particular the student community.
Inspector Andy Loftus, who heads the Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We recognise the understandable concern that this sudden spate of incidents will have caused in the community and we have been working closely with our detective colleagues who moved swiftly to identify and arrest these suspects.

Hide Ad“We don’t expect to see any continuation of these incidents as a result of the action taken but we will be maintaining increased patrols of the affected areas to reassure residents and deter any further incidents.”
