A week today it will be World Gin Day, so we couldn’t resist seizing the chance to tell you about some of the best gin bars in Leeds. So raise your glass, clink it with a friend’s and toast to happy times.

THE POUR HOUSE, CANAL WHARF, LS11 5PS

Housed within the old Granary building, which overlooks the canal of Granary Wharf.

They say: “The Pour House models itself on the original supporting campaign prints of William Hogarth, an artist in the 1700s, who supported the campaign to prevent the over consumption of cheap spirits, by the poor in the 1700s, especially gin.”

Try some of the 19 on offer and soak up some sun by the river. Just don’t go overboad. The Junipero gin has a slight juniper flavour and a spicy finish, at £5.50.
