This week we look at the town of Yeadon which has become closely associated with Leeds Bradford Airport but is also a place of much history.

It was also a town that held childhood memories for the late Brian Close, English cricketing legend.

Yeadon Tarn has been the venue for countless aquatic activities over the decades as shown in our pictures.

In 1955 these ladies and gentlemen observed a fine dinghy race and our photographer captured an unusual view through a window showing the Thompson Trophy Race in 1968.

A year later these youngsters rivalled the yachting crews when they took to their paddle boats in June 1969.

Away from the water, market day was held outside the town hall in 1971 and the cobbles of The Steep glistened in the sixties sunlight.
