Sinead Fallon, 13, from Leeds, scooped a world title after winning Under-13s Irish Dancing Champion.

The Cardinal Heanon High School pupil, pictured, was also honoured by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun Malcolm Bedford, who hosted a special ceremony for the Shadwell girl at Leeds Civic Hall. Sinead had been dancing since the age of four, training regularly at Tracey Scanlon Irish Dancing School, Moortown. She beat off competition from 2,500 other dancers to win the world title in Dublin.

Coun Bedford said: “I am sure I speak for everyone in the city when I say a big ‘well done’ to Sinead.”

According to our archives, she also won the trophy the previous year. If you know Sinead, please get in touch with us by emailing neil.hudson@ypn.co.uk
