Holding an L plate is Mr Albert Hall, Leeds pensioner who finally got married after 76 years as a bechelor. He joked he had been waiting for the right woman to come along.

He is pictured here with 84-year-old Peggy Arnott after their wedding at Shadwell Methodist Church, Leeds.

Mrs Arnott had been married twice before.

Both were residents at Red Hall Old People’s Home in Wetherby and they were treated to breakfast in bed on their wedding day. Mrs Arnott was also given a red rose for the big day.

“This is the third time for me but I think it will be a long time before it happens again.”

The pair returned to the care home after the service for a party organised by staff. Mr Hall said: “I’ve got the right woman now.”
