Summer is finally here - and what better way to enjoy the heat than with an ice cream? We asked the #Leedsrecommends community for their favourite dessert parlours and gelato bars in the city.
Carly Grimshaw. Rainbow Gelato ice cream parlour in Yeadon! Home-made ice cream and milkshakes of every flavour with cake and chocolate and biscuits bits.
Rick Poppa. Northern Block - so many awesome flavours it’s hard to choose one.
Jake Robinson. Goodalls in Tong - go there after every year after a long walk.
Sarah Quigley. Goodalls in Tong.
Daniel James Broadbent. The gelato place in Trinity Leeds is one of the best I’ve tried.
David Atha. Granneli’s; I think that’s the name, it was in the old Leeds Market. Whether it’s still there I don’t know. Their ice cream was the best I ever tasted.
Claire Milne. Can’t wait for the ice cream parlour to open in Crossgates.
Sharon Richardson. Goodalls in Tong.
Chris Quinn. Goodalls in Tong, it’s made there as it’s a dairy farm. Amazing.
Jennifer Firth. Charlotte’s in Whitley near Dewsbury.
Ann Brunt. I go to Brymor near Leyburn! You can buy their tubs in shops, though.
Shari Sant. Rainbow Gelato in Yeadon. They have some fantastic flavours and are always adding new exciting ones. The staff are amazing too - more than happy to go the extra mile. They can bring the ice cream to your party too offering an ice cream van experience without huge expense.
Dave Shepherd. Goodalls, although that’s Bradford rather than Leeds.
Jane Larcombe. Rainbow Gelato in Yeadon.
Julia Firth. Goodalls in Tong village. Superb ice cream.
Adam Piper. The gelato bar on Chapeltown Road is really good. It’s a cool place to hang out and popular with teenagers and families. Lots of nice flavours and friendly service.
Alys Finnegan. Knickerbocker Shakes on Roundhay Road in Oakwood is a sweet treats heaven. Lovely ice cream, amazing milkshakes and they even do nice smoothies if you’re feeling healthy.
Rhys Bucknell. The Shake Bar in the Merrion Centre. The milkshakes are really good and they offer student discount too.
Mike Rayner. Afterz Dessert Parlour in Hyde Park. Big range of unusual flavours, including Curly Wurly and Maltesers! They also do waffles and cake and there’s a nice outdoor seating area.
Leah Hirani. I like Billy Bob’s near Bolton Abbey. It’s part of the diner but the ice cream is local and they so great sundaes.
John Badger. I loved Cabin 164 when I was a student. The ice cream is really good and it’s a shisha bar too, so a great place to relax.
Charlotte Maine. The Oreo ice cream at iCandy on Briggate is to die for,
Tom Kingham. Jak’s in Kippax is worth travelling out for as they do gluten-free ice cream! Also a great place to go for the classics like knickerbocker glories and banana splits.
