Leeds recommends: Best fry-ups in the city

Have your say

There’s nothing like a full English breakfast to kick off your weekend - so we asked the #Leedsrecommends community for their favourite cafes and fry-up spots in the city and beyond.

Jennifer Griffin. Nina’s in Swillington has to be the best cafe in Yorkshire! Staff will cater for any needs or dietary requirements. Very friendly. All in all the best.

Angela Hargreaves. Yorkshire Crust in Leeds 16. All fresh and locally produced food, none of the horrible greasy spoon cafe rubbish.

Richard Edwards. Only Food and Sauces on Dewsbury Road. Bacon is not the usual soggy, fatty mess but firm and crispy. Black pudding is moist and a far cry from the dried-out hockey pucks you get in many places. Not a huge place but very popular with builders, and they should know about starting the day with a good fry-up.

Tim Choat. I recently went to Emmaus charity shop and they had a cafe inside, I think it is run by homeless people. The breakfast there was amazing, I got the small one but still lots to eat!

Nichola Stanhope. St George’s Cafe in Middleton. Best fry-up and they do lots for the local community. Can’t recommend enough.

Gavin Burton. The Pink Teapot in Otley for butties and Leeds House in Otley for full brekkie.

Paul Sherwin. Sandwiches Galore, Beeston Road - by far the best food and service in Leeds.

Claire Rose. The Greedy Pig on North Street. Hands down. No question. And their veggie version is pretty special too.

Toni Keown. Napa on Street Lane for breakfast and Lidgett Lane Larder for sandwiches.

Daisy Bellis. Joey’s on Burley Road. AMAZING! Great quality and taste with fab service.

Julie Pattinson Purdy. The Corner Cafe, Tong Road. Spotless, clean and a beautiful breakfast.

Sarah Brown. Cafe Indulgence, Swarcliffe. Great food, great prices and great staff. Great cafe.

Zoe Heywood Clink. Muddy Boots cafe in Harewood is great!

Shaun Traynor. Mae’s Cafe, in East End Park, Leeds. Best one by far.

Shari Sant. Re-fuel. They do a mini one for the kids and then a half tank and a full tank for those with a much larger appetite.

Adam Beesting. Cafe Fraiche in Rodley. Amazing food and service there.

Shaun Stevenson. Square, New Farnley by a mile. Clean and decent staff.

Debi Whittaker. Florence cafe in Arrmley, food is lovely.

Sami Mabbott. The Rumblin’ Tum, Otley.

Marc Bedford. Goodman Street, Hunslet and Stairway Cafe near Costco.

Holly Jane Simpson. Roses cafe on York Road, best brekkie by far!

Brett Anthony Holdsworth. Florence cafe in Armley run by Leon Florence. Absolutely amazing breakfast, not greasy either - 10/10.

Tom Varey. Home Bakery in Woodlesford are by far the best sandwiches in the country!
