TODAY the Yorkshire Evening Post can reveal the lucky groups who have successfully applied for a slice of a £100,000 cashpot.

The YEP-backed Red Nose Day Community Cash campaign invited local groups the chance to apply for a cash boost.

The annual campaign offers grants of between £500 and £1,000 to small, cash-strapped organisations from across Leeds that aim to help local people who are living tough lives.

The winning groups that will each receive a piece of the funding include lunch clubs, refugee forums, sports teams, allotment groups and community libraries.

Nicola Furbisher, YEP managing editor, said: “The YEP is proud to be at the heart of our communities in Leeds – and this is the perfect way to recognise the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure these communities flourish.

“This is such a fantastic campaign to be a part of and it is humbling to hear of the selfless work going on to ensure communities continue to thrive and support hundreds of the city’s most vulnerable residents.”

She added: “We are proud to be part of this wonderful campaign and look forward to watching how the grants will benefit these dedicated groups from across Leeds.”

This year the campaign saw the YEP once again team up with Comic Relief and Leeds Community Foundation to make sure the small grants were dished out to the community groups most in need to help them flourish in their communities.
