Dedicated staff have left their npower offices in Leeds to tackle the nation’s highest peak in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Six members of staff from npower took part in the Ben Nevis challenge as part of the company’s ‘10 for 10’ campaign, which marks a 10-year partnership with the charity.

The campaign aims to raise £150,000, which the energy supplier vows to match pound for pound.

Last weekend Carlos Martinez, Tatiana Waldykowska, Stephanie Austin, Gareth Bagshaw, Natalie McGlen and Samantha Thorne tackled Ben Nevis in the wind and rain with 34 other npower employees from across the UK.

Tatiana said: “The weather was terrible and the trek was very challenging, but the sense of achievement after reaching the summit made it all worth it.”

The Leeds team has helped raise over £7,800 from the challenge.

Tatiana added: “Our partnership is important to me because I’ve had friends that were helped by Macmillan nurses and I know how much that support meant to them.”

Meanwhile eight other npower employees cycled coast to coast to raise £14,000 for the charity.

In its 10-year partnership, npower has raised £8m for the cause.
