Leeds was in a fundraising frenzy today for the Lord Mayor of Leeds’ Just One Day campaign in aid of the Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Residents, businesses and community groups all pitched in and got involved with a charity-boosting activity to boost to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal for the hospital.
Cake sales, bucket collections and bake offs were among the many fundraising events that took place for Just One Day.
Council staff member Mark Smith pledged to donate his day’s wages to the appeal and even Tropical World’s meerkats came out in force to help the mayor drum up donations.
Staff at PR firm Bonner and Hindley also held a cake sale to boost the appeal’s coffers, as did staff here at YPN Towers.
The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor David Congreve said: “It was fantastic to be out and about around Leeds throughout the day and give a personal thank you to just some of the people who gave up their time and made such an effort in so many different ways to raise money for my ‘Just One Day’ campaign.
“Their support was absolutely brilliant, and I would like to say a big thank you to every single person who took part and donated on the day. Every penny raised through ‘Just One Day’ will be given to my chosen charity this year the Leeds Children’s Hospital, who do such an amazing job looking after our young people.” To donate to the Just One Day appeal, text LMCA01 followed by the amount to 70070 or visit the website at www.justgiving.com/lmca.
