HOUSE music DJs will step behind the decks to host a special event in memory of a friend.

Duncan Michael Wilson, also known as DJ Despo, died in 2013 aged 33 after battling an aggressive form of testicular cancer.

Now DJs including Adam Shelton, Tristan Da Cunha, PBR Streetgang, Laura Jones, Gavin Herlihy, Frenchy, Jonny Wren and Adam Ross will join forces to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in his memory.

‘Dancing for Despo’ events will be held at Distrikt Bar and Wire Club in Leeds this weekend.

The first ‘Fund Raving’ event in Duncan’s memory was held in 2014 on what would have been his 35th birthday.

It raised £2,000 for the charity.

Duncan’s former housemate Katy Noble said: “After the success of last year’s event I really wanted to step up the game and aim higher with our fundraising efforts.

“Duncan was a much-loved character within house music and I knew we could gather together a strong line-up which will enable us to hopefully smash last year’s total.

“I couldn’t be more committed to raising money in his memory and in a style that couldn’t be any more fitting to his personality.”

DJ Adam Shelton, one of Duncan’s best friends and a headliner at this year’s event, said: “I am so happy to be playing this year’s party.

“Duncan means the world to me. It’s amazing to see and feel his influence and vibe going stronger than ever.”

Distrikt Bar will host a gold themed party on Saturday, April 11, from 8pm to 2am, with an after party at Wire Club from 2am onwards. Donations will be taken on the door.
