Bake a cake and make a difference to Leeds hospices

Have your say

YEP readers are being urged to make a cake - and make a difference to the city’s two hospices.

We are calling on you to get baking and hold a cake sale, coffee morning or tea party for our Half and Half appeal for St Gemma’s and Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospices.

Join in the great cake make any day next week.

It is part of Local Newspaper Week which this year is centred around Making A Difference.

The Half and Half appeal is believed to be the longest running newspaper charity campaign in the country and is edging towards the £3m mark.

Every day, donations large and small are sent into the YEP office in memory of loved ones cared for by the hospices.

Now we want you to help boost funds further.

Simply roll up your sleeves and tell us all about what you are doing so we can feature it in the newspaper.

If baking is not your bag then you can do anything you choose to help make a difference.

Nicola Woodgate, communications manager at St Gemma’s, said: ‘We encourage you to do something to make a difference. Challenge yourself, organise an event in your community, collect donations from a special occasion. Every penny you raise will make a difference.’
