Have your say

If your world revolves around your family, we want to know. So we’ve put together a few questions to give us a sneaky peek into your lives. This week we hear from Daniel Andrews, Helen Lamb and their 20-month-old daughter Lola, who live in Chapel Allerton.

What do you do?

I’m a director at Leelex Limited – owners of Mexican restaurant Cielo Blanco and the newly-opened Pintura Kitchen and Bar, both at Trinity Leeds. Helen is a project officer for the charity Skills for Care.

Top tips for getting children to do what you ask?

Bribery, some chocolate or an extra episode of ‘In The Night Garden’ usually does the trick.

What family task takes you the longest?

Getting dressed. Peppa Pig welly boots, shorts and a panda hat is not appropriate for any of the seasons!

What’s the funniest thing your daughter has said?

Lola calls frogs ‘bogs’ and thinks babies come out of Mum’s boobs.

Favourite family day out?

Farms. Lola loves animals. Yorkshire has got some really great family farms with petting areas, homemade ice creams and adventure playgrounds.

What do you like to do in your ‘spare time’?

We love going out for brunch and breakfast as much as we can. I work most lunch and dinner times so heading out early, finding some good coffee and eating eggs with family.

What’s the hardest thing about being a parent?

Accepting you can’t do all the fun things you used to be able to!

What’s a typical evening for the grown-ups once the children are in bed?

I work most evenings either at Cielo Blanco or at Pintura but the few nights we have together usually involve a few glasses of vino and catching up with missed TV.

Most treasured memory?

Memories are hard to recall with all the sleep deprivation but recently finding out we are having our second child was pretty amazing.

Top penny-pinching tip?

Shop at Aldi, own brand nappies do the job just fine.

What one item can’t you live without?

Baby wipes, they are stashed in every corner of every room.

And your daughter...?

Mums iphone! It’s the first thing Lola thinks of in the morning and the last thing she thinks of at night.
