Flamingo Land's tiger cub isn't the only top new animal attraction - Peter Rabbit and Lily Bobtail characters are also proving to be a larger than life hit with young visitors.

The children's storybook favourites are out and about, with two meet and greet sessions at the Peter Rabbit Adventure playground.e very day at 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

Her name derives from the Indonesian word Menyanyi, which means to sing, as keepers say she is very vocal.

While the theme park area is closed until March 24 the amazing animal collection is open daily. There is then additional winter entertainment at weekends and school holidays.

Flamingo Land Zoo is open from 10am to 4pm, allowing visitors to enjoy over 140 species of reptiles, mammals, fish, amphibians and birds.

This extends to Peter Rabbit Adventure and Lily Bobtail’s Nature Discovery playgrounds, Children's Planet, Reptile River, Muddy Duck Farm, Treetop Walkway and The Aquarium.The lemur and lorikeet aviary walkthroughs welcome visitors from midday until 2pm, with the Wallaby Walkway open from 10am to 4pm.

All provide unrestricted views and the opportunity for up-close encounters.The sea lion area is open 12:30pm to 2pm, with a show t 12 noon and 2pm. There is also a Bird Show at 1pm, plus a range of Keeper Talks and daily Meet a Creature sessions in the Education Centre, at 3.15pm.

The Pirates of Zanzibar live entertainment show for all the family returns during the half term holidays - February 10 to 18 - plus every subsequent weekend, until Sunday, March 18, with performances at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

Captain Plunder's tales of the high seas, with his crew bringing their spice stealing stories to life, unfolds on The Black Heart galleon in Plaza Square.

Dino-Stone Park is a fun and excitement discovery area for all ages, with themed rides, animatronic dinosaurs and a Dino-Dig fossil hunt.

A small selection of rides for younger children are available too, including the Muddy Duck Tractors, Jungle Carousel, Mischief Mansion and Wacky Races.

Visitors can buy a 20-30 minute Animal Encounter from the Zanzi Bazaar gift shop, open for February half term, or the Zoo Shop.
