In this Countrywise one-hour special presenters Paul Heiney, Ben Fogle and Liz Bonnin travel the length and breadth of Britain in search of those remote corners that remain truly wild.
Travelling from the frozen mountains of Scotland to the deep marshlands of the fens and the raging coast of Cornwall, they explore magical remote places virtually untouched by man.
Liz explores an underwater wilderness on Lundy Island, off the coast of Devon, home to Britain’s only marine conservation zone. She also gets special permission to check out one of the least visited places in the whole country, Sutton Fen, a rare and fragile wetland habitat that it isn’t open to the public.
Ben is heading north to the arctic tundra of the Cairngorms to build a snow cave and stay on the mountain overnight.
Meanwhile Paul explores a secret world hidden within London, Abney Park Cemetery, which has been left for nature to claim, as well as Dragon’s Head on the north coast of Cornwall.
Liz, Ben and Paul also head up to a remote corner of the Lake District to discover Ennerdale Valley, its wildlife its people and its incredible views.
