FORMER Emmerdale star Kelsey-Beth Crossley has told why she picked Kaiser Chief Ricky Wilson as her coach on BBC show The Voice – despite the face that she he is a bigger fan of Kylie.

Kelsey-Beth, 21, had both judges battling for her to give them the nod on blind auditions of the talent show on Saturday night after she impressed with her version of ‘I Fell in Love With a Boy.’

Kesley-Beth, who played Scarlett Nicholls in the ITV soap, said: “I love the Kaiser Chiefs’ music, but in all honesty I’m a bigger fan of Kylie,

“Ricky seemed the best person to go for because he was very enthusiastic about my singing. Ricky seems like a lovely guy, we are having fun.”

She is through to the next round on The Voice and expects to back on TV in three to four weeks time.

Kelsey-Beth said: “It has been crazy and a bit weird to watch yourself on TV on a Saturday night.

“It is all a big high and then you are back to normality, mopping your kitchen floor.

“The reaction has been fantastic, especially from people on Twitter. The response has been overwhelming and I’m so grateful to everyone.”

She added; “I only went on the show because my piano teacher put me forward for it. It’s a learning experience.

“I’m learning so much from top vocal coaches and people behind the scenes. It’s like going back to college.”

Meanwhile, Sophie May Williams, 17, of Wrenthorpe, Wakefield, is enjoying instant celebrity after her appearance on Saturday night’s The Voice.

She said: “It’s been a mad week. I have been recognised everywhere and I don’t understand how after just one appearance on The Voice.”

Sophie May, who is studying for A levels at Outwood Grange Academy in Wakefield, said she is happy that is her coach on the show.

She added: “He is a really interesting person and we really get on.

“The show is so much fun, I love it.”

Sophie May lives in the same village as 2012 The Voice star Frances Wood, who made it through to the quarter-finals on The hit show.
