The first series followed six very different couples who stumbled into parenthood together. Now, 10 months on, we’re back to find out what happened next.

Businesswoman Roanna (Hermione Norris) tries to hide her past from young lover Simon (Luke Thompson), but it’s only a matter of time before it is revealed.

Blogger Kim (Katherine Parkinson) finds her love life is complicated by ex-partner Susie (Tara Fitzgerald), while her relationship with Neil (Jonathan Kerrigan) is in jeopardy as she struggles to be the perfect mum to baby Emily.

With husband Rick (Will Mellor) in prison, Diane (Jill Halfpenny) is learning to cope on her own. But as his release draws near she worries that she’s become too independent for their relationship to work.

And things haven’t got any easier for Jasmin (Taj Atwal) and Dev (Sacha Dhawan). Their overbearing mothers have moved in – and refuse to leave.

Kay Mellor says: “It was an absolute pleasure to visit all my characters again with their complicated lives; the shift in their relationships now they’ve become parents and the opportunity to explore how they’re dealing with life.”

In The Club, BBC1, Tuesday, 9pm
