The £3.5billion theme park is set to open in Swanscombe, Kent in 2024, with ITV bosses signing a multi-million pound deal in order to be part of the project.

Developers have also signed partnerships with BBC Worldwide and the British Film Institute, with BBC shows expected to feature at the theme park including Doctor Who and Sherlock.

Sprawling 535-acres, this theme park is set to open on the site of a former cement works, and will be the first development of its kind in Europe to be built from scratch since the Disneyland Paris opened in 1992.

The entrance to the resort is planned to be via a grand plaza that leads hotel guests and visitors through ‘The High Street’, filled with shops, restaurants, hotels and a waterpark.

Visitors can then head to the six ‘islands’ of The Studio, The Isles, The Kingdom, The Woods, The Jungle and Starport - where a journey awaits in each one.

The project is set to eventually be a two park resort, with the first opening in 2024 and the second expected in 2029.

"A multi-billion pound investment will transform seven million square meters of land, on the banks of the Thames, into one of the largest, immersive experience centres in the world.

“When complete, it will be three times larger than any other park in the UK. Two theme parks and a resort water park will be set over 535 acres, the equivalent of 136 Wembley Stadiums.

“A bespoke entertainment district, including the provision of 3,500 hotel rooms, will be devoted to a full-suite of hospitality experiences.

“There will be something for every generation and food and drink for every taste.”
