February half-term activities in Leeds: what to do with the kids when the schools are off as bad weather continues

Luckily, Leeds has plenty of fun options on offer, especially if the good old British weather continues.

Planet Ice rink has finally opened to the public and offers kids the chance to get their skates on this February half term.

Public skating is available, alongside individual lessons or a six-week course.

Sing-a-long Greatest Showman at City VarietiesSwan Street, Leeds LS1 6LW

On Sunday 16 February, City Varieties will screen The Greatest Showman, where a live host will encourage a sing-a-long, showing children special dance moves and getting the crowd up on their feet.

The website says: “Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and full audience participation is essential.”

Make slime at Hobby CraftJunction St, Leeds LS10 1EW

If you want to escape the rain and enjoy a family craft activity together, then this could be the perfect event.

Make your own textured slime at Hobby Craft, Crown Point, choosing from a range of colours and textures.

Workshops will run on Monday 17, Tuesday 18, Thursday 20, Friday 21 and Sunday 23 February.

The event is free and you can book on the Hobby Craft website.

Tropical World – We Love Meerkats!Princes Ave, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 2ER

From Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 February 2020, 10am – 4pm, show your love and appreciation for Tropical World’s adorable yet very mischievous meerkat mob.

Peppa Pig - My First Concert - will visit Leeds Town Hall on Tuesday 18 February.

The show will introduce classical music in an interactive way through Peppa, George, and Mummy and Daddy pig.

Here you can explore a huge collection of insects and creepy crawlies with critter-themed crafts and a tour of the centre's store, which contains over 1 million objects.

This is a free event, which launches on Wednesday 19 February. You need to book in advance.

There’s a range of activities on offer for all the family during February half-term at this country estate.

You and the little ones can design, decorate and take home your very own treasure or trinket box fit, or follow the trail through the house to discover other weird and wonderful treasures.

There’s a range of family activities on offer at the museum, including Alice in Wonderland crafts, Roald Dahl silly science, Treasure Island crafts and murder mystery, and Jungle Book crafts.

A spaced-themed Escape Room has launched at the Royal Armouries, in partnership with The Great Escape Game.
