The annual doggy walk was attended by 600 people and 300 Dachshunds last year - all dressed in their best festive jumpers.

It has been organised by the Yorkshire Dachshund Group which has almost 6000 members on Facebook.

Organiser Dee Campbell said: "I can’t believe how big the group is now, we just thought it would be nice way to find out about the breed and meet a couple of people.

"We now get people requesting to join daily, even some from America and Europe, I never knew it would be so popular when we started out."

Group member and sausage dog owner Melanie Nicholson said: "I joined the group 7 years ago, when my own daxie was just a few months old, and there were only 70 members.

"We now have nearly 6,000 members and I’ve met some amazing, friendly and supportive friends who regular meet up for walks all over Yorkshire.

"The group has made a real difference to my life and love of walking, inspiring me to organise and lead walks myself for fellow members. Everyone in the group knows that a Dachshund walk can turn a grey day into a great day."

The sausage dog walk takes place on Sunday, December 22 at 10.30am and start from the cafe.
