She became the Queen of Cakes but now Jane Asher is taking on a very different role.

The actress, who soared to fame as a child, is taking centre stage in Leeds as one of Charles Dickens’ most tragic characters.

Jilted at the altar, Miss Havisham never removed her wedding dress and left her wedding breakfast untouched.

Jane returns to the Playhouse for the first time since Dial M For Murder to take the starring role in the new adaptation of Great Expectations. It runs until April 2.
