Classic comic opera in Leeds

Have your say

A touring production of Gilbert and Sullivan classic ‘Iolanthe’ comes to Guiseley’s Theatre on the Green this Saturday at 7.30pm.

One of the most popular G&S comic operas, Iolanthe combines beautiful melodies and orchestration with hilarious wit and political satire.

The show satirises the House of Lords, pitching peers against fairies in a ‘topsy-turvy’ plot typical of the musical duo.

It also features some of the pair’s finest songs including ‘When Britain Really Ruled The Waves’, The Sentry’s Song (‘Either a little Liberal or else a little Conservative’), and the world’s fastest patter song – The Lord Chancellor’s Nightmare.

Tickets are £14 with £12 concessions. Call 01943 876409.
