Stephen Bear: who is the reality TV star accused of leaking CCTV video of ex Georgia Harrison - and his response

Reality TV star and celebrity Big Brother winner, Stephen Bear, was apprehended at Heathrow airport by police on 15 January, following allegations of "harassment, exposure, voyeurism and obstructing police.”

A police investigation has now been launched, in relation to allegations by fellow reality TV star, Georgia Harrison, that he filmed a sexual encounter with her without Georgia’s knowledge or consent.

On 9 December 2020, he was forced to deny accusations of salacious behaviour, and has since hit out at the investigation by Essex police, stating: “I've been charged with some s**t, man.”

But who is he? and what is he accused of? This is what we know.

Who is Stephen Bear?

30-year-old Bear is a serial reality-show contestant with a reputation for appearing on several dating shows - including MTV’s Ex on the Beach and Channel 4’s Celeb’s Go Dating.

In 2016, he won the 18th series on Celebrity Big Brother and most recently was cast in competition show, The Challenge: Total Madness on MTV - where small screen celebrities battle to win a share of £1 million.

He has also been linked to a number of reality star’s including Charlotte Crosby, Vicky Pattison and Lillie Lexie Gregg.

Why is he being investigated by police?

Essex police have yet to announce formal charges, but the police investigation is in relation to Harrison’s accusations.

He was arrested on 15 January, but later released from custody and will remain on bail until 10 February.

Bear has had his passport confiscated while the investigation is ongoing, he had returned from Dubai when he was questioned by police.

A spokesperson for Essex Police told The Mail: “A 31-year-old man from Loughton, who was arrested on suspicion of disclosing private sexual images or film without consent with intent to cause distress, voyeurism, harassment and obstructing a police officer, has been released on bail until 10 February.”

What did Georgia Harrison accuse him of?

On Monday, 7 December, Love Islander Georgia Harrison took to Instagram to accuse Bear of leaking a sex tape of her into a group WhatsApp chat.

It is alleged that he had CCTV installed in the bedrooms of his private home and had been dating her at the time when the video was taken.

25-year-old Harrison said she was ashamed when she realised he had taken the video and had been aware of it for some time, but that he had claimed to have destroyed it.

She made allegations that she has seen the footage for herself, after two men approached her and showed her it on their phones.

In an Instagram story and video she posted, she said: "So bear has CCTV around his house he purposely got me in a position where he knew it would be on CCTV quite a long time ago and after acted like he forgot the camera were there."

"(As u do when u have cctv set up around private property going directly to your television and phone)."

"Firstly I had to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he just would do the right thing, partly because I was ashamed and just wanted it to go away but tbh I have nothing to be ashamed about I was on private property with someone i had been with multiple times and trusted/was in love with."

She continued: "However since being away I have met 2 more people he has shown and even seen a screen recording so I have no other choice but to go public about this situation not just for me but for anyone that has been round there no knowing they are being filmed.

"I feel hurt, I feel violated, I feel embarrassed but I also feel like my friends and followers will support me through this and I can't stay silent on the matter any longer.

"Also anyone who watched it your disgusting yourself. Any respectful man, brother, son, father would tell him he's disgusting for showing anyone that especially as u [can] clearly see its CCTV and I don't know its recording."

The reality star previously called Bear the “biggest c**t in Britain” after he referred to her as his “rumped and dumped” ex, last year.

What was Bear’s response?

Bear responded to the police investigation on a video he shared on his YouTube channel.

In the video, he tells viewers his thoughts on the investigation, which he referred to as “some s**t.”

Bear said: “Where do I f**king start? I'm back from Dubai and I've actually got a criminal case over my head. I've been charged with some s**t, man.

“I’ve been charged from the Essex police with harassment, obstruct police officer, exposure and voyeurism.

"So let's start with the first one. Harassment doesn't sound good does it? Exposure. Not too sure what exposure means.

“Obstructing a police officer. What do you reckon I did? Do you reckon I got in his way?

“I think voyeurism because I've been to Dubai and I've gone on a voyage - I'm getting nicked for travelling to Dubai because I've been on a voyage.

“Do you blame Captain Cook for sailing the seven seas? No you don't. So right now I can't talk about the case.

'It's under investigation. I'm on bail until 2nd of February. Right now they've got my passport.

“When I arrived on the 15 January I was going to surprise my mum - I had four police officers waiting for me at the airport. They handcuffed me, it was quite embarrassing actually.”

Initially he defended himself on Instagram, the day following Harrison’s claims (8 December).

Bear posted an Instagram video to his story in which he told his 1.6million followers he had spoken to Georgia.

He explained: “I don’t even want to talk about it, it’s just so silly.”

"I've spoken to the girl saying stop making up silly rumours. Everyone's just got to calm down. People saying someone's name for clout, it's just dumb."

He then went on to post a controversial video of himself late on 9 December, where he appears to mock the former Love Island contestant by fake crying before telling the camera "You are going to look so stupid. F***ing so confusing."

Would these actions be deemed illegal if proven true?

Yes, according to women’s rights organisation, Right of Women: “Revenge porn is when someone shows a private sexual photograph or film of you to another person or people, without your consent and with the intention of causing you distress.

“It is an offence whether they show someone, share it with others via social media, email or any other form of communication.”

The content itself could have been consensual, but not for the purposes of sharing online or with anyone other than the recipient.
