Post-punk innovators Public Image Ltd are to play a show in Wakefield in May.

The band, founded by John Lydon after he left the Sex Pistols in 1978, will perform at city venue Warehouse 23 on the second date of a UK tour, on May 25.

Famed for their hits Public Image, Death Disco and This Is Not a Love Song, PiL released their 10th studio album, What The World Needs Now..., to enthusiastic reviews last year.

The record, which was self-funded and released on their own label, featured the band’s longest lasting and most stable line-up of frontman Lydon, guitarist Lu Edmonds, drummer Bruce Smith and bass player Scott Firth.

Tickets for band’s gig at Warehouse 23 go on pre-sale on Friday January 15 and general sale on Monday January 18. See for ticket links and information.

PiL also play at O2 Academy Sheffield on June 7.
