Portobello Road Gin will be bringing their unrivalled expertise and their bar while rising Leeds institutions Patty Smiths, Doughboys, Bundobust, Grub & Grog will all be selling food across the weekend.
The opening party will take place on Friday, August 14 and feature sets from DJ Format, Fingathing, Get Machine, Destroy! & Special Guest DJs. The party will also see the launch of a new exhibition of artwork curated by Drew Millward and Colours May Vary, which will run for two weeks. Tickets for the launch party will cost £10.
Saturday will be an all day party, taking place outside the Northern Monk Refectory. The outdoor stage will be curated by High & Lonesome Festival and Hide & Seek Records with Saturday ending with guest DJs and a party in Chapter Hall.
Sunday is intended to be a more relaxed affair with film showings in Chapter Hall and food and drink available outside. Hide & Seek Records will be taking over a barge and hosting a special intimate show on the Leeds/Liverpool canal. Tickets are on sale now from Jumbo and Crash Records or via http://cityofindustry.co.uk.
Said Harry Ridgway of High & Lonesome: “City of Industry is hugely exciting to be a part of. Our conversations with Northern Monk quickly snowballed and before we knew it we were collaborating with a massive number of people in Leeds we really respect who do incredible things. A big party in the summer with such great beer, gin, art, food and music is not to be missed and showcasing these peoples work is a real privilege”
Stu McKinlay of Yeastie Boys added: “We are extremely honoured to be invited to City of Industry. The chance to show off our beer in Leeds – one of Europe’s most advanced beer cultures – and hang out with some of your best brewers is an opportunity we didn’t need to think much about before saying yes!”
Marko Husak of Bundobust said: “It’s amazing to be involved in such a forward thinking festival showcasing the best in new art, food, music & beer in a building that was a part of Leeds’ famous textile industry.”
Northern Monk’s Russell Bisset commented: “The community element of Northern Monk is a key part of our identity. City of Industry is a true celebration of this, inviting new industry in the heart of the old. The event brings together the best local independent businesses as well as a curated selection of musicians and artists from former industrial hubs across the UK all accompanied by beer from some of the best new breweries in the world. The festival is a three day showcase of the evolution of music, street food, beer, art and culture.”
