Greetings, and happy Bruceiversary from the arena world.
Normally at this time of year we start to wind down a bit, reflect on the past couple of months and start to plan for our busy autumn/winter season.
Promoters go away on holiday and bands do the same (if they aren’t playing the summer festivals), so concert venues around the UK tend to go quiet over July and August. This year appears to be a little bit different for the Leeds First Direct Arena.
Firstly, we still have Ant & Dec’s Takeaway On Tour to look forward to in August.
With brand new celebrity guests just announced, and the chance to win a car and a holiday at every show, its going to be a fabulous couple of nights.
We will also be welcoming back Rahat Fateh Ali Khan at the end of the month and next week we say hello to the Teach First national conference, where thousands of newly qualified teachers will be inducted into the world of education. We certainly aren’t resting on our laurels.
Last week heralded some very exciting announcements for our venue. Blues rock duo The Black Keys will be coming to us in March – if their Latitude performance last weekend is anything to go by, it’s going to be an awesome night.
We also announced an exciting new partnership with Bradford-based car dealership brand JCT600 last Thursday with an impressive display of the some of the most beautiful super cars in the world demonstrating their power in the venue.
The deal that has made JCT600 the arena’s official car partner will offer some amazing benefits to customers of both businesses alike. We are really looking forward to working with them further.
It seems crazy that this time last year we were welcoming the Godfather of rock music, Bruce Springsteen, into our venue for our little ‘test event’.
What proved to be an amazing night was the first of many great evenings – my personal favourite was the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year Awards back in December. Here’s to another brilliant year.
Grammy award winning blues rock duo, The Black Keys, will play at the Leeds First Direct Arena next year.
Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney will be bringing their blend of blues and garage rock to the arena in March as part their Turn Blue world tour.
Tickets for the Thursday March 5 show will go on sale this Friday from 9am, priced from £27.50.
