THE long list for the 2013 Northern Art Prize has been announced with 21 artists in the running for the £16,500 first prize.

Artists from as far a field as Carlisle to Sheffield, Liverpool to Whitley Bay, made thecut for the Leeds-based award now in its 6th year.

A panel of five will select a winner to be announced in a new Spring slot next year at Leeds Art Gallery. The 21 are:
