Live At Leeds 2018: Everything you need to know about the growing indie music festival

Live At Leeds will be making its return for 2018 with more than 100 artists set to perform on the day-long event.

The annual music festival is renowned for serving as a platform for the best up and coming local bands and artists, alongside more established acts from around the world, making it a popular event for music fans to discover new talent.

Previous years have seen the likes of Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran and Jake Bugg take to the stage, and with the a steller line-up of artists scheduled for this year's event, it promises to be the place to be to see the next big thing.

Taking place on Saturday 5 May at 19 venues around the city, here is all of the essential information you need to know ahead of the day-long musical extravaganza.

Essential viewing

This year's line-up includes Circa Waves, The Horrors, ASH and Peace, among many others, with The Vaccines taking the headline slot.

The band will perform on the festival stage at the O2 Academy at 9pm and are sure to be treating fans to a few songs from the latest album release, Combat Sounds.

And while The Vaccines may the main attraction for many, there are a host of other great emerging bands and artists to catch over the course of the day - here's just a few you won't want to miss.

The Orielles

This indie trio are Halifax's rising stars and are gaining wide recognition for their unique sound, inspired alternative 90s American bands and a love of cinema.

Their debut album, Silver Dollar Moment, was released in February this year and has already proved to be something of a hit.

When: 12pm-12.45pm, CLASH Stage, Holy Trinity Church

Superorganism

Consisting of eight members who hail from an array of locations, including Maine, New Zealand and South Korea, the eclectic mix of musicians form an electronic indie-pop super-group who, despite having only formed in early 2017, are already making waves in the music world.

When: 2.45pm-3.30pm, The Independent Stage, Stylus, Leeds University Student Union

Rae Morris

Having collaborated with the likes of Clean Bandit and Bombay Bicycle Club the Blackpool-born singer may already familiar to some, but her name is becoming more widely known following the release of her electronic-orientated second album, Someone Out There, which came out in February this year.

Putting her own spin on pop music, Morris is sure to become a big name in the industry.

When: 11pm-12am, Belgrave Music Hall

The Hubbards

Based between Leeds and Hull, this four-piece indie band have already received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 6Music, toured in support of The Pigeon Detectives and Augustines, and shared festival stages with the likes of Foals and The 1975, and are undoubtedly headed for much bigger mainstream successes.

Held at 19 different venues across the city, festival goers have plenty of options to choose from on the day.

From the larger stages at the O2 Academy and Leeds Beckett, to more intimate venues like The Wardrobe, Nation of Shopkeepers and The Social, attendees can enjoy a music filled tour of the city.

General admission tickets cost £39.60 per person and can be purchased here.

Tickets must be exchanged for a wristband prior to entering the venues.
