Leeds Festival issues update on 2020 event amid coronavirus concerns

Organisers of Leeds Festival have responded to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.

The festival is set to go ahead on Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30, with huge names booked including Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi, Rage Against The Machine and Liam Gallagher.

There are concerns that major events will be cancelled as the outbreak worsens, with cases in the UK continuing to rise.

In an update to ticket holders, Leeds Festival's organisers said they are working closely with health officials but the festival is currently going ahead as planned.

Five people have tested positive for the virus in Leeds, with the figure expected to rise over the next few weeks.

A spokesperson for Leeds Festival said: "At this time, Leeds Festival is still going ahead as planned.

"Please be assured that the safety and health of all staff and visitors, is our main priority and we are implementing recommendations and instructions appropriately.
