Gig review: Kasabian at Bridlington Spa

2014 was Kasabian's year, a Glastonbury headline slot and a number 1 album. But since then, they have sort of been '˜off the radar' until last month when the band announced two very special hometown shows at Leicester Stadium.

It soon got their Yorkshire fans speculating as to whether the band would return to their favourite warm up spot, Bridlington Spa, and it didn’t take the band long to announce they would be making another trip up north.

Anticipation was high as a broad spectrum of music fans piled in to Bridlington Spa to catch Kasabian in action.

First on stage were Blossoms, they’re a band which have a lot of hype surrounding them at the minute, and rightly so, their hits Charlemagne and At Most A Kiss go down great with this already rowdy crowd.

However, the noise steps up and the crowd starts to scream when the lights go down, marking the arrival on stage of the Leicester rockers. The band took to the stage and immediately kicked the show into high gear. Opening with classic track, Underdog, everyone in attendance knew it would prove to be a great night.

With guiatrist Sergio Pizzorno bouncing about the stage and singer Tom Meighan’s usual piercing stare, the four-piece continue to crash through songs such as Eez-Eh, Shoot The Runner, Fast Fuse and Clubfoot before stopping to dedicate Where Did All The Love Go? to the people who tragically lost their lives at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris last year.

Continuing their set with an eclectic mix of 20 tracks from all five of their albums, it was a night of their greatest hits and a brilliant stadium-ready warm up. After a short encore break, the band returned to stage to end their set on crowd favourites Vlad the Impaler and of course, the legendary track Fire.
