Bill Bremner and Me is an original comedy drama performed by comedian Phil Differ.

It follows Phil's dream to play football at the highest level, to represent his country and eclipse the career of his school's greatest hero: Leeds United and Scotland footballer Billy Bremner.

The acclaimed comedy follows schoolboy Phil as he tries to get into the school team and eventually eclipse Billy Bremner's career - but is held back by mediocrity.

The show was premiered at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival and now Differ, the man behind BBC's Only An Excuse?, is bringing the comedy to Leeds.

Events director Joey Waller said: “The show is a comedy-drama that contains a witty mixture of storytelling, nostalgia and stand-up.

"It’s an autobiographical journey into Phil’s life trying to emulate his hero as a child- Leeds United legend Billy Bremner.

"However, the play isn’t just about football. It’s about coming to terms with your life.

"What happens when your fantasy goes in for a fifty-fifty ball with reality? What do you do when you realise you’re not as good as you think?

"The feedback from previous shows has been great with audiences lapping up both the laughs and the “serious bits”.

"Hopefully it will have that extra special feel to it at the Leeds show with the obvious nod in the direction of a character synonymous with the city’s football team.”

Billy Bremner and Me will be held at Leeds City Varieties Hall on Friday, April 17 2020.

Tickets cost £18 and will be available from the City Varieties Box Office.
