Yorkshire golf: Terry Hills thrills as he finally sees hole-in-one all way into cup

“I had one as a junior at Hillsborough when I was 15,” he said. “I then had another in 1997 at the 16th at Hillsborough, a dog-leg, par-4, 323 yards.

“The 17th at Headingley is a beautiful looking hole and you can see the entire green – delightful.”

The nine-handicapper headingley member used an eight iron at the 157-yard hole.

Cookridge Hall have won the Leeds Union Scratch League Division One title, with Mid Yorkshire second and Wakefield third.

Cookridge built the foundations for ultimate success with seven straight victories at the start of the 12-match season, including three 6-0 whitewashes, one 5-1 win and three 4-2 triumphs. They were only beaten twice.

Howley Hall’s Becki O’Grady battled through to the semi-finals of the American Golf Long Driving UK championship finals in Cheshire where she met reigning champion – and world No 3 – Rebecca McGinley, of Ireland.

O’Grady fired it out to an impressive 258 yards, but McGinley recorded a staggering 310-yard drive and went on to defend her title.

Oulton Hall’s Sam McIntyre won the Ping Star of the Future (Under-8) category at the American Golf UK & Ireland Junior Championships at Gainsborough with a nine-hole score of 47.

Crow Nest Park’s Dylan Shaw-Radford took runner-up spot in the best net category, carding an impressive 64.
