Three gymnasts from the City of Leeds Trampoline and Tumbling Club have secured the coveted title of British champion.
A total of 16 gymnasts from the club, which is the most successful in Yorkshire, qualified for the British Championship finals. The qualifiers competed in trampoline, synchronised trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
Harrison Green (16) held on to the title of British DMT Champion in the 17-19 category. Despite injury earlier in the year, he finished the competition with a halfout Pike Miller which scored a stunning 36.4 points. Harrison is coached by the head coach and founder of the club, Dan May.
Charlotte Tate (16), a sixth former at Garforth Academy, won the category 2 physical disability class in style, finishing over five points ahead of her nearest rival. Charlotte also coaches the club and recreational trampoline squads.
The youngest member of the Elite Leeds Squad, Gabriella Moorhouse (10), only took up the sport in August last year after she was introduced to it during the school holidays at one of the club’s day camps.
She was identified as a child with talent and has gradually increased her training to six days a week.
Despite limited competition experience, Gabriella secured two medals at the championships, a gold in the 9-10 Double Mini Trampoline category, and a Bronze in the 9-10 years Elite Women’s Trampoline category. Her coach, Aaron Sheenan, believes we will see a lot more from Gabriella in the future.
The City of Leeds Trampoline and Tumbling Club is located just off Gelderd Road in Leeds. It holds regular trials for youngsters wishing to try out the sport of trampolining, DMT and gymnastics.
