Taekwondo: Fair old finish for Barnett at first GB international

Yorkshire teenager Jacob Barnett marked his first appearance since becoming a member of the GB Taekwondo Academy with victory at the Austrian Open in Innsbruck.

The 20-year-old was one of three GB medal winners though there was no podium placing for Luke Jones, younger brother of double Olympic champion, Jade Jones.

Barnett, a first-year student at Leeds Beckett University, defeated Romania’s Andrei Rotaru to win the -68kg weight division on golden point.

In total, he won four fights and his performances were a boost ahead of his participation at the World University Games in August as part of Great Britain’s three-strong team.
