Sharks' shooters ensure it's a '˜tough day at office' for Force '“ Sayers

Force came into the Yorkshire derby hoping to get back on track against the fourth-placed Sheffield Sharks. However, it wasn’t the outcome we wanted.

The first quarter was a close contest with the teams going back and forth. It finished 25-22 to the hosts and the game was shaping up to be an exciting one.

It was the second quarter, though, where the home side broke away!

We went ice-cold and only managed to score nine points to their 24 and we were chasing the game from then.

A hot shooting night for the Sharks meant they converted 50 per cent of their three-pointers.

The majority of which came from Jerrold Brooks, who went 6/8 from downtown on the night.

There was a positive to take from the disappointing weekend, however, and that was the performance of Force’s new signing Marek Klassen.

He finished with a team high 16 points on his debut and showed what he will bring to the team.

Elsewhere in the BBL this week we saw the Newcastle Eagles lose their first game of the season at the hands of second-placed Worcester Wolves (94-80).

It was a statement victory for the Wolves who clearly wanted to show the rest of the league that they mean business, led by a great performance from Pavol Losonsky, who finished with 26 points in just 23 minutes, while shooting a whopping 80 per cent from the field.

Newcastle got back to winning ways very quickly with a victory over Cheshire Phoenix (97-87) which saw them advance to the semi-final of the BBL Trophy!

It’s a double header for Leeds Force this weekend as we face-off against a strong Worcester Wolves side right here in Leeds at the Carnegie Sports Arena (Friday 29th).

They’ll be coming into the match-up brimming with confidence after their win over the Eagles, but we are up for the challenge! We are yet to play the Wolves at home so let’s make sure you fans are out in ‘force’ on Friday night!

Less than 24 hours later, we’ll be heading down to Bristol to play the Flyers, who are sitting just one place behind us in the league standings.

Every game is important, but at this stage in the season, it’s the games against the teams close to us in the standings that we have to win if we want to secure a play-off spot come May.

Back-to-back games are always difficult but we are determined to perform how we know we can.

It’s going to be a big weekend.
