Leeds Carnegie head coach Diccon Edwards has named his strongest side and insists Newcastle Falcons are not unbeatable as the two clash on Sunday.

Edwards believes the two teams are very similar, and that his squad can be the first to beat Newcastle this campaign.

“They can definitely be beaten,” Edwards said.

“We just have to make sure that when we’ve got the opportunity, we take it and we execute.”

Leeds received late news that Rory Clegg has been recalled this weekend for the Harlequins squad after illness had interrupted their match preparations.

However, on the back of his finest performance so far this season, against Plymouth, Edwards believes Joe Ford can replace Clegg, who will return to Leeds next week.

He said: “At the start of the week we believed Rory would start but they’ve had an illness in the Quins camp, so they need him on the bench.

“I thought Joe had his best game of the season last week, and he has trained really well and shown a fantastic attitude this week.

“We’re picking what we believe is our strongest team.”
