The visitors who needed a positive result, started brightly and saw a chance missed when a corner found Joey Jones, he got too much on his header though and it went over the crossbar.

They continued to press for the opener and it arrived when Charlie Carter worked his way into the area and after being given time and space, he picked out the bottom right-hand corner with a shot to give the Cards the lead.

It was Woking who controlled the tempo of the match and were controlling the midfield as well.

Guiseley had their first chance when John Rooney direct from a corner, saw his attempted cross, hit the roof of the net.

Woking nearly grabbed a second with moments to go before the break when a corner found its way to Jordan Wynter, with the cross hitting him at pace, he adjusted his body to make contact but his effort hit the ground and bounced up over the crossbar.

Guiseley again saw Woking continuing to control the match going into the second half, with Carter seeing his header well saved by Joe Green. But the Lions got an equaliser when Dayle Southwell was found in the area, he took a touch in the area and fired his effort into the bottom right hand corner with a smart finish.

With five minutes to go Woking made their final change with Richard Orlu coming on and with his first touch he headed in from a corner to send the away support wild. Guiseley end the home season with three wins out of 23 games.

Interim Guiseley boss Sean St Ledger said: “It is another disappointing result. We got back in it and then couldn’t see it out.

“The focus now is on the last two games and getting some more points from them.”

Elsewhere in the National League, FC Halifax Town ended their home campaign with a whimper in front of more than 3,000 fans at The Shay as they lost 2-0 to Tranmere. First-half goals from Andy Cook and James Norwood put Tranmere in control, a position which they never looked like relinquishing to a below-par Halifax.

Harrogate Town’s chances of automatic promotion disappeared when they lost 3-1 at local rivals Bradford Park Avenue in National North.

With Salford City slipping up 2-1 at home to Boston United, it was the perfect opportunity to move within three points of the leaders but an Adam Boyes brace ended Town’s chances and enhanced Park Avenue’s top-seven hopes.

Boyes had a chance cleared off the line by Warren Burrell before heading to give Avenue the lead against Harrogate and an unmarked Frank Mulhearn netted on the break to double the hosts’ advantage. Ex-Sheffield United forward Jake Wright struck back on 84 minutes after Steven Drench had saved from Dom Knowles, but Boyes sealed victory by following up when James Belshaw kept out an Oli Johnson effort.
