Hednesford hit back to defeat Farsley Celtic

Farsley started the game superbly and Hednesford shot-stopper James Wren had to be at his best to deny Isaac Baldwin and then Adam Clayton, before Farsley broke through in the sixth minute.

Paul Walker was at the centre of a brilliant team move and he slipped the ball through to Ben Atkinson who rounded Wren and slotted home into the empty net.

Despite Farsley’s first-half dominance Hednesford drew level in added time, the referee playing an excellent advantage which allowed Joe Fitzpatrick to fire past Graeme McKibbin.

Midway through the second half Farsley should have gone in front, Isaac Baldwin leading the charge and then finding Dan Cockerline but his strike was blocked.

Hednesford had started to stamp their authority over the midfield after the interval, and arguably deserved to go ahead as Jordan Graham led the counter and whipped in an excellent cross for Danny Glover to head home.

The three points were wrapped up in injury time, as James Lawrie hassled Lewis Turner, and stole the ball off the Farsley defender before rounding McKibbin and finishing comfortably.

Frickley Athletic fired eight goals past Market Drayton Town in an 8-0 victory as Jacob Hazel hit an excellent hat-trick. A Tyler Blake brace, Jeff Watkins own goal, and strikes from Gavin Allott and Thomas Dugdale rounded off the scoring.

In Division One North, Tadcaster Albion eased to a 4-0 victory at home to Glossop North End. Casey Stewart scored a brace, with Peter Davidson and Andrew Milne also on the scoresheet.

Ossett Albion are now three games without a win after a heavy defeat at the hands of Kendal Town, slipping to a 5-1 loss. Adam Priestley had given Albion the lead, before a Rob Bowman brace and goals from Steven Yawson, Luke Jordan and Daniel McGahon saw Kendal seal victory.

A 90th minute equaliser from Sam Heathcote meant Ossett Town were forced to settle for a point at home to Ramsbottom United in a 1-1 draw.

Pickering town enjoyed the result of the day in the NCE Premier Division with their 7-0 thumping of Garforth Town which moved the Pikes up to second in the table.

Pickering made a stunning start to the game with Ryan Blott and Joe Danby both netting braces by the 26th minute.

Further goals followed from Matthew Turnbull, Billy Logan and Thomas Claisse in the second half as Pickering cruised to victory.

Pontefract Collieries’ match against Athersley Recreation was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, so the West Yorkshire side are 21 points behind leaders AFC Mansfield with eight games in hand – but are just three points behind Pickering.

Mansfield enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Harrogate Railway. Nathan Merchant gave Railway the lead after just four minutes but they could not hold on.

Hemsworth MW’s match against Staveley was also postponed as was Liversedge’s game at Parkgate.

Knaresborough Town moved five points clear at the top of Division One thanks to a 1-0 victory over Swallownest. Brad Walker netted the only goal of the game. Nearest challengers Eccleshill United’s game at Worsbrough Bridge was postponed.

A second-half hat-trick from Liam Owen helped Nostell Miners Welfare claim an impressive 6-3 victory over Armthorpe Welfare.

Also on the scoresheet were Jack Owen and Billy Mole (2).

The victory moved Nostell up to 18th place and six points clear of the relegation zone.

Elsewhere in Division One, seventh-placed Glasshoughton Welfare suffered a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to third-placed Grimsby Borough.

The Yorkshire derby between fourth-placed Yorkshire Amateur and sixth-placed Selby Town was postponed as was AFC Emley’s home match with Shirebrook Town.
