Farsley boss Adam Lakeland was left frustrated by the defeat. He said: “They were a bit better, bit sharper and bit stronger. The first goal was always going to be important, we didn’t have that extra gear to get back in the game today.”

A defensive mix-up between Lewis Turner and Danny Ellis allowed Warrington to take the lead midway through the first-half, the ball coming to Will Hayhurst whose shot from the edge of the box went straight through Graeme McKibbin.

Jamie McDonald had a couple of opportunities for Warrington just before the break, McDonald dragging just wide after a Will Wells error, before he was then denied by a good McKibbin save.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half the visitors doubled their lead, a good spell of possession seeing the ball come to Sean Williams who picked out the bottom corner with his half-volley.

The Celts finally registered a shot on target in injury time as Luke Pilling saved easily from Lewis Turner, and it was clear a run of five games in 10 days had left Farsley fatigued.

In Division One North, Ossett Albion fought back to defeat Glossop North End 3-2. Courtney Meppen-Walter and Lewis Lacy scored for Glossop either side of Ossett’s Jacob Young, before Adam Priestley struck twice to secure the victory.
