Celtic had the lion’s share of the possession and chances, but Steggles made superb saves from Adam Clayton, Jimmy Spencer and Chris Atkinson meaning the two teams will have to meet again on Wednesday night at the Bill Stokeld Stadium, Carlton.

Pickering Town also face a replay, this time at home to AFC Mansfield tomorrow, after their FA Trophy match finished 2-2 on Saturday.

Jordan Annable gave the hosts a 1-0 lead on 33 minutes only for Josh Greening to equalise two minutes later. Jack Broadhead then restored Mansfield’s lead before Ryan Blott converted a penalty on 73 minutes to earn the visitors a replay.

A last-minute goal from Charlie Bailey meant Ossett United exited the competition after a 1-0 defeat at Lancaster City.

Tadcaster Albion moved back into the Evo-Stik League East Division play-off zone thanks to a 3-1 victory at eighth-placed Belper Town.

YORK City equalled their worst run of consecutive defeats since March 2016, but there were signs of improvement during a 2-1 FA Cup exit at Swindon.

The Minstermen went out of at the first-round stage following three National League North losses in eight days, but this fourth reverse offered greater encouragement, given the two-division difference between the two clubs.

Indeed, York were only 14 minutes away from earning a replay before Steven Alzante scored the winning goal for Phil Brown’s men.

Earlier, impressive teenage home midfielder Scott Twine had opened the scoring, only for visiting left-back David Ferguson to level the tie on the stroke of half-time with his second goal of the season.

Twine drew first blood on 12 minutes after a clever flick of his heel saw the ball roll in off the inside of away keeper Adam Bartlett’s far post following Jermaine McGlashan’s low right-wing cross into the six-yard box.

But the Minstermen rallied and, on 43 minutes, ex-England C international Ferguson swept home after Jordan Burrow’s header had been saved by Robins keeper Lawrence Vigouroux.

There were subsequent second-half chances for Kallum Griffiths, Burrow and Nathan Dyer, but Alzante snuffed out hopes of an upset when he steered in from eight yards with the aid of a deflection off York debutant Joe Davis following Keshi Anderson’s right-wing raid.

Back in the league, Bradford Park Avenue moved to the top of the table, even though they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils at Curzon Ashton.

In-form Avenue striker Jake Beesley netted his seventh goal in as many games when he headed home a free-kick from Lewis Knight.

But that second-half effort was cancelled out just four minutes later when Oliver Crankshaw raced on to Ryan Brooke’s pass and beat Steven Drench to secure a 1-1 draw.
